The multiplayer demo for Armed Assault is finally out: ArmA MP demo mirrors (850 MB) Wizzy found another page with two additional mirrors for USA and UK (the UK mirror was much faster by the way, so try that first): ArmA MP demo mirrors (StrategyInformer.com)Let me know what you guys think of it. Though I have the full version already, I'll download this demo to see if I have the same graphics artifact problem I'm having with the full game, and of course so we can all play together before it comes out.

Ok i played the demo tonight as it's a multiplayer demo and at first it seemed ok but as soon as I got close to the village everything began to have processor lag to the point if I brought up the gunsight or binoculars it got choppy. Setting it to low made some difference but you'd still be dead if in a gunfight. What's your graphics card model, K? And what interface does it use, AGP 8x or PCI-Express? Oh, and what framerate do you get when close to towns and when in the woods/rural areas? (Use FRAPS to figure out.)
I'm gonna have to look for a new graphics card myself, as this one (X800GT, 256 MB, PCI-e) is most definitely damaged from heat... I keep getting artifacts (huge colored polygons) all over the screen when I'm close to towns and vehicles in the game, so it's unplayable. Here are a couple screenshots: i142.photobucket.com/albums/r100/safmembers/ArmA_artifacts.jpgi142.photobucket.com/albums/r100/safmembers/ArmA_artifacts_2.jpg

Good to hear, K.
Are you playing with everything on low settings? You may be able to improve some of the graphics without having much (if any) performance loss. Putting textures on normal makes it look much nicer, for example.

These are the settings I'm using and the game is pretty playable this way with minimal processor lag

Well I've been playing ArmA for 3 days straight now guys. Processor lag is still a major issue. Judging from the forums it is with a lot of people out there. Visibility is also an issue. To get the game to play well enough you have to give up a lot of distance visibilty and object detail. Only time its fun is if you can make it into the village and take them on close up. Possibly the game will get better with some patching.

Yeah, there's still a couple months before the full version comes out, so there's still room for improvement (some people joke that the Czech/German versions were released earlier just for beta testing, lol). Oh, and I'm working on the video card...

If K is having a problem with his processor lag then we all will. I wonder how many people in Czechland have a machine better than an Alienware???
Hopefully they'll improve it a bit but I suspect that if you take off the fancy graphics then the game is gonna look an awful lot like the old Operation Flash.
Take a look at the settings and take down the levels for the stuff that you can do without.
Atleast we know it's a good game and if we all get it and make a commitment to playing it then I'll put up with anything...well maybe apart from being tked by Wiz.
